Under the weather...

Sunday 8.45 a.m
On Friday it was my turn to succumb to a bug....
Weekend has passed vilely or in bed. No energy for hobby stuff let alone anything else! Still had it been last weekend I would have missed the big Scottish 1938 game or next weekend it would have spoilt my half century!
I will write soon about my latest hobby plans and stuff I have been working upon... and answer Der Alte's enquiry regarding the skip, with accompanying pictures too.

20th century Imaginations...

I spent yesterday in a 20th Century imagination- the world of 1938 a Very British civil war...
A super games day was organised by Sakura and we all had a superb time .The venue was excellent and lunch well presented and tasty, others stayed overnight at the hotel and carried on today...
We were defending Berwick upon Tweed from attack from Scots and Anglican League forces. The pictures I took are of the gallant defenders (apart from the enemy cavalry and tank in one picture) I commanded. We had a superb day and I am waiting to hear the outcome as it carried on after I left...

Of bugs,boxes&boards...

Half term weekend did not go as expected... around 11pm on Saturday my wife and three daughters succumbed to a sickness bug at the same time! They are still not well and I have been doing a Florence Nightingale ever since... this is unheard of in this house and I fear we were visited by Winter Vomiting Bug as it is known here!

This afternoon saw the arrival of my circa 1790 writing box/slope. It was well packaged and has travelled well. It was checked and admired and subsequently put away until my birthday!

We have really enjoyed the winter olympics so far. The family were most taken with the skating whilst I found the snowboard cross to be just amazing!

Updating

Good Morning! It is 6.00a.m....
I havent posted here for ages and it is
good to be back. I have not been away anywhere but have been caught up with work and the busy nature of life
Today sees half term beginning at Midday and I am off for nine whole days-huzzah!
And what of the Duchy here? My eldest became 16 at Candlemas and is becoming a young woman.I am so proud of her .
I have been reading much to do with the politics and society of the 1930s in Britain. This has been sparked off by interest in
VBCW1938 a community of creative ,knowledgeable and genial chaps if ever there was one. I have become fascinated by the 30's as an age of idealism in contrast to our own .

March will see my half century and the family have bade me work out what I wish as a gift. I have given it much thought, sought the council of others and came up with many options- a greenhouse,Duchy Orginal tools ,a camera, a piece of art and others. However I decided on something else . I have asked for an 18th century writing slope/box - a portable one used on campaign and/or travelling. It seemed so appropriate and fills me with great excitiment. The deal was struck yesterday and the antique box will be delivered by carrier next week. I cannot wait but will ( after a brief look to ascertain safe travel) allow it to be put away until the 6th of March. I can't wait....
I will post more over the coming days and tell of this weekends visit to the local wargames club and next weekend's 1938 big multi player game next Saturday.Have a good start to the weekend when it comes one and all!
