Succumbed

I succumbed to buying  Bolt action rules tonight for vbcw and Seelowe gaming. Anyone used them?

  1. We have. They're not bad, but on the whole I prefer Chain of Command or I Ain't Been Shot Mum from the Lardies.

  2. Easy game to pick up, I like the dice drawing method of activation

  3. I haven't, but I'm tempted. On that note, do anyone know of any 28mm WWII Swedes. (I allready know about Ådalen miniatures.)

  4. Lots of players use them and just as many criticise them.

    I don't do either.

  5. We've been playing Bolt Action for years. It was the rule set that pulled us into WW2 skirmish. We had some figures painted for years, but never had a set of rules we wanted to play until BA came along. You can look back at a lot of the games we've had on my blog. BA is fun and friendly. Maybe it's just now that I'm older, but that's what I like in a game.

  6. Only Swedes I know are Adalen Miniatures and they are great- I have some awaiting finishing off.
Rules arrived late pm today and look interesting.

  7. I played a few bouts with first edition, and it was very enjoyable. I've watched many more games, and there is a tendency to get too large (too many troops, too many vehicles, etc. - the curse of successful skirmish games). If kept to a reasonable size, it can be very fun.

  8. We've had several good games of BA now. As Charles said, at a reasonable size it's quick and fun. Just let me know if you ever fancy a game.

  9. I have always enjoyed BA. It's not perfect (and I think I preferred the 1st edition to the 2nd ed.), so expect luck to lay a heavy hand on every game. But it's colourful and fun. Enjoy!
